| A.
The moulding is notched from both
sides on either a NF or NFX notching machine.
Both machines accept the following nose knives
when the optional, smaller cutting head is
installed: 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”.
The moulding profile must include a flat area
in the center, equal in width to the selected
nose knife. In the majority of cases this
would be 1/4", wider mullions are used
for full sized doors, etc.

B.
The notched
moulding is placed on the KS Mini machine table
and the notch is centered in the path of the
router bit. Precision steel fixtures with fine-adjustment
are used to properly position the moulding.
Upon depressing a foot-pedal, two pneumatic
clamps secure the material against the back
fence and the fixtures.
A spiral-flute carbide router bit moves through
the moulding toward the operator and, upon reaching
the end of the stroke, returns automatically
to its home position. This removes the center
portion of the half-lap joint in a clean and
precise operation. |
